Sonny&Cher
Salvatore Phillip "Sonny" Bono and Cherilyn "Cher" Sarkisian LaPiere
were married in 1969, shortly before the birth of their daughter
Chastity Sun Bono
on March 4th 1969.
The couple first found fame with their smash hit I Got You Babe
in 1965, followed by a hit television show on CBS from 1971-1974.
The Sonny and Cher
Show ended when Cher filed for a divorce from Sonny.
In 1967, Sonny and Cher filmed "Good Times", an unsuccessful film about themselves. In
1969, they made another flop movie, called "Chastity", starring Cher and written/
directed by Sonny.
After their divorce in 1974, they each had their own shows, "The Sonny Comedy Review"
and "The Cher Show", before reteaming to make "The New Sonny and Cher Show", which was
unfortunately not a success.
